Hugo Bugg Landscapes offer a comprehensive design service for any garden, large or small. Starting with an initial consultation we work through a seven stage process covering everything from concept design and development through to project management and planting.

1. CONSULTATION
The first stage involves us meeting with you at your home so that we can gain an understanding of the area to be designed and can discuss with you your ideas for your garden. This will then be followed by a written, illustrated report, identifying any problems and suggesting solutions in order to meet your requirements. We will also include a proposed budget. This budget will include a quotation for each stage of the design, including Design Concept & Development, Master plan & Detailing, Planting Plans, Tendering documents & Project Administration.

It is important at this stage for you to have carefully considered the available budget that you are willing to spend on your garden. Our fees will vary between garden projects, depending on the degree of complexity. However, all projects, regardless of price, will receive the same high standard of attention to detail and professional service.

When considering your budget it is worth remembering that a well designed and attractive garden can greatly enhance the value of your property as well as providing a beautiful and practical “living space”.

2. SITE SURVEY
Once you have decided to progress to the Concept Design stage, a full survey of your garden will be required. This is essential to allow us to take into account any existing structures, trees/plants, level changes etc that may alter the design if not accurately recorded. We will advise you whether we can undertake the survey ourselves, or if it will be necessary to arrange for a professional surveyor to undertake the work.

Redesigning your garden is one of the most exciting things you can do in making your home more individual, therefore during the Site Survey we will take this opportunity to develop a full design brief with you.

3. CONCEPT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
The Design Process begins once we have received the full site survey and have completed a comprehensive brief. The concept will include CAD drawings and computer/hand-drawn visualisations to give you a thorough visual understanding of how the finished garden will look. We will also provide a rough breakdown of the costs associated with this concept design.

After presenting this initial design we will amend and develop this concept to a final master plan. We will then arrange a further appointment to present the drawings and answer any questions that may arise from the design.

4. MASTER PLAN & DETAILING
Once the overall design has been agreed with you, we can proceed to Master plan & Detailing. This fourth stage consists of a fully scaled Master plan, any number of construction details, sections and elevations specifying all hard and soft landscaping materials to be used. These drawings are necessary both to acquire accurate quotations from contractors and to enable them to build the garden to the required standard. A full detailed specification document and Bill of Quantities will be drawn up including material, size, finish of materials etc. that will clarify all aspects of the build.  The development of this stage ensures every detail is considered thereby helping us to achieve the highest possible quality.

5. PLANTING PLANS
Planting plans will be produced along with the other detailed drawings, including full plant specifications. We will also compile accurate plant lists and source the best quality plants possible to ensure your garden is exactly as you require.

6. TENDERING
Once the Master plan and any construction drawings have been signed off, an estimate will be sought for both the hard and soft landscaping elements with up to three landscape contractors being asked to tender a quotation.

They will receive copies of the drawings and the specification document. However, very often the contractors will need to visit the site to get the full understanding of these drawings.

Once the quotations have been submitted we will arrange an appointment to discuss the quotations received and to advise on which contractor would be most suitable to meet your requirements.

PROJECT ADMINISTRATION
We will manage your project right through from concept to completion. This is especially important through the construction stage of your garden and we will therefore attend arranged site visits throughout the build. This will help ensure we get the quality and result we strive for along with a smooth and quick build.
